Assaya is a side table designed by Satyendra Pakhalé for Poltrona Frau. The structure has a single steel pedestal with moulded profile. The top is in birch plywood with light polyurethane foam padding on the lower part. The base is made of an aluminium-coloured painted steel plate.
The upholstery combines the Cuoio Saddle Extra leather used for the surface of the table top and the exterior of the pedestal with the Pelle Frau® leather used for the lower part of the top and the inside of the pedestal. The rimof the leather surface is embellished with elegant visible contrast stitching.

Meet The Designer
Satyendra Pakhalé
Multifaceted award-winning industrial designer Satyendra Pakhalé established his practice in 1998 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and is active internationally in the field of Industrial Design, Transportation and Architectural Design. He was born in 1967 in India and trained as a designer at the renowned IIT - Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and later at Art Centre College of Design Europe, in Switzerland.
Through a series of award-winning design projects for leading clients and industries, the practice has developed a worldwide reputation for designing diverse innovative typologies, pushing the limits of technology and materials. Renowned companies such as Alcantara, Cappellini, Franke, Hästens, Magis, Poltrona Frau, Fiam, Novartis and TOD’s rank among his clients.
Pakhalé has lectured throughout the world on platforms such as CeBIT Germany, Casa Brasil and Future Design Days Sweden. The Eindhoven Design Academy in the Netherlands invited him to devise and head the Master Programme in Design for Humanity and Sustainable Living from 2006 to 2010.

Poltrona Frau
Noted for their exhaustive quality standards, the company uses a 21-step leather tanning process (vs. industry standard ranging from 12-15 steps) where the full-grain leather is dyed through, so a surface scratch won’t reveal a lining underneath. 95% of Poltrona Frau’s products are made by hand.
The Pelle Frau® leather tanning processes are exclusively combined with chrome treatments, which guarantee greater chemical and biological stability, to preserve the softness and flexibility of the leathers. Selected and produced by the finest quality Italian tanneries, Pelle Frau® leather is only “admitted” to the production process after it has passed a series of tests in the Poltrona Frau laboratories: from sensory tests to evaluate its hand, touch, colour, appearance and choice, to physical and mechanical tests that guarantee its impermeability, breathability and resistance to rubbing and stains.
