The Downtown chair is available in five versions: President, Executive, Managerial, Meeting and Visitor. The upholstery, embellished with tone-on-tone or contrast stitching, is in Pelle Frau® leather, also available in a version with micro-perforations on the inside surface of the backrest, the armrests and the cushion. In the President, Executive, Managerial and Meeting versions the base, in polished or black lacquered aluminium, is composed of five spokes with soft automatic braking “W” swivel castors that adapt to all kinds of floor. The Visitor version, meanwhile, has a four-spoke base with plastic swivel glides which are also available for the other models on request. The Downtown chairs are height-adjustable and can be swivelled by pulling up the lever underneath the seat on the right. The President, Executive and Managerial versions come with the “Syncron” oscillation mechanism for the backrest and seat, which enables the chair to adjust to the body of the user, supporting their movements and providing extraordinary comfort. The chair’s mechanism allows it to be locked into four different positions. Downtown Meeting can swivel thanks to a thrust bearing. Downtown Visitor is equipped with a swivel mechanism with automatic return whose thrust bearing allows the chair to rotate and return to its original position.

Meet The Designer
Jean-Marie Massaud
Born in Toulouse in 1966, Jean-Marie Massaud graduated in 1990 from Les Ateliers, Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle, Paris. He began to work both in Asia and in France, finally opening his own office in Paris in 1994. Since then, he has dedicated himself to industrial and furniture design, building important relationships with brands such as Authentics, Baccarat and Magis.
His collaboration with Marc Berthier and his work in the field of town planning led him towards design and architecture. He is concerned with design in various contexts, industrial products and furniture. His contextual approach centres on research into the essential, within which the individual remains the centre of attention. It is a work upheld by research into the senses, magic, and vital emotion which brings him to work with very different brands: Cassina, Poltrona Frau, Cappellini, Cacharel, Lancôme, Tronconi and Yamaha offshore.
His works have been awarded several prizes and many of his designs are nowadays on show in the design collections of major museums worldwide: from Amsterdam, Chicago, London, Paris and Zurich: from the permanent collection of the Musée National d'Art Moderne de Paris to the permanent collections of the Museum für Gestaltung, Zürich, of The Chicago Athenaeum- Museum of Architecture and Design, of The Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam and of The Musée des arts Décoratifs, Paris.

The Pelle Frau® leather tanning processes are exclusively combined with chrome treatments, which guarantee greater chemical and biological stability, to preserve the softness and flexibility of the leathers. Selected and produced by the finest quality Italian tanneries, Pelle Frau® leather is only “admitted” to the production process after it has passed a series of tests in the Poltrona Frau laboratories: from sensory tests to evaluate its hand, touch, colour, appearance and choice, to physical and mechanical tests that guarantee its impermeability, breathability and resistance to rubbing and stains.
